About the work

My work explores sensation, memory, movement, and feeling all at once. I am drawn to moments that feel transitional: a shifting horizon line, wind, water, shadows, light changing just before it disappears. Working primarily in watercolor, ink, and acrylic, I build surfaces through layered marks and evolving color, letting each piece develop through accumulation, revision, and restraint. I am especially interested in small-scale formats because they invite close attention. Within these intimate frames, I distill expansive feeling rather than describe a place literally. The work begins with references to landscape, weather, and atmosphere, but moves toward something more internal: the emotional residue of being somewhere, or of remembering it later. I want the paintings to feel open enough for viewers to enter slowly and find their own associations within them.
